Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Pittsburgh Penguins sent first- round draft pick Kasperi Kapanen back to his Finnish team prior to the teams season opener against Anaheim on Thursday. Kapanen, who was selected 22nd overall in June, will return to KalPa of Finlands premier professional league, Liiga. Son of former NHL forward Sami Kapanen, who also plays for KalPa, the 18-year- old was ranked 39th on NHL.coms top 60 prospects list. Pittsburgh also placed forward Beau Bennett on injured reserve. The 22-year- old is out with a lower-body injury that he sustained during practice on Sept. 27. He is expected to miss up to six weeks. The Penguins recalled forwards Zach Sill and Andrew Ebbett and defenseman Taylor Chorney from Wheeling, the teams ECHL affiliate. Pablo Sandoval homered and drove in three runs to break out of a slump that extended back to late June. The Giants third baseman, hitting just .222 over his previous 16 games, also had an RBI-double and an infield single. Lincecum (9-5) allowed three hits over seven innings and fanned Gerado Parra to end a two-on, two-out jam in the seventh.
